Fire Science Degree Programs Available Online!

Indianapolis, Ind.—Lake Superior State University has partnered with The College Network, Inc. to offer online degree opportunities for aspiring and current members of the fire services industry. Lake Superior State University’s fire science degree program was the first to be internationally accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), and it is among only three programs available online in the United States. By partnering with The College Network, Lake Superior State University now offers fire services professionals a better way to earn their associate’s or bachelor’s degree in fire science.

“Lake Superior State University’s online fire science program is built to help firefighters across the United States further their education. Firefighters directly benefit from advancing their educations by ascending to a higher rank or into a supervisory position,” said Scott Amos, Ph.D., Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs for Lake Superior State University. “The College Network’s quality reputation and national presence are key ingredients that we can use to help accomplish our goals.”

“We are excited to partner with Lake Superior State University in the fast-paced fire science education industry. Being the first internationally accredited degree program by IFSAC is testimony to the high quality standards of Lake Superior State University’s program,” said Gary Eyler, Chairman and CEO of The College Network. “The College Network’s nationwide network of Program Advisors will be able to work face-to-face with fire service professionals and those aspiring to enter the field of fire service to help put them on the right path toward earning their associate’s or bachelor’s degrees with Lake Superior State University.”

The College Network’s Comprehensive Learning Modules (CLMs) are accessed online and are designed to save learners time and money. CLMs prepare learners to earn college credit for general education and prerequisite courses by passing end-of-course college equivalency exams, such as CLEP® and DSST®. Credits earned by passing these exams are then transferred to Lake Superior State University, where learners will complete their degrees through distance learning.
